Clutch Bag Essentials

My summer ball is tomorrow and I'm going to be wearing a dress as well as a clutch bag. I thought I'd share with you some of the essentials to have in your clutch bag if you're going to a prom, event or a night out. As most of you should know most clutch bags aren't the biggest so you really do need just the essentials.

This is my clutch bag. It's from Matalan, I bought it in the winter so I'm not sure if it's still there. It's just a black clutch with some sparkles and it also has a silver chain so you can put it on your shoulder. That's what I always look for when I'm getting a clutch. One to put over your shoulder so you have both your hands free or for when you're dancing the night away. On the inside there is just a tiny pocket but a bit of space.

The first essential is my phone. I cannot go anywhere without my phone. Having a phone also means you can take pictures without having to bring a camera. You can bring a camera if you want to but it might just be easier to just use your phone.

The next essential is of course my purse. Now I've used a smaller purse to my normal one as my normal one is a bit bulky and this one I can just keep the essentials inside. My money, card and ID. That's all you really need. I don't think your Starbucks card will be useful at your event.

Next is my travalo. I've loved this ever since I've bought it because it's small and you can just spray yourself with perfume if you're feeling a little smelly. Just spray this on and continue with the rest of your night.

I like to also take my compact mirror and brush. Just so I have a mirror on me and also so I can brush my hair if it starts getting knotty.

A lipstick and a lip balm. I like to bring both because sometimes I just want to reapply the lipstick I'm wearing and sometimes I just want to moisturise my lips.

Finally my university card so I can get back into my halls at the end of the night.

That's it. That's all the essentials for my clutch bag. I hope this gave you an idea on what you can put in your clutch bag for your event.

Anyway, I'll be back on Tuesday with another blog post. See you guys then.

Prom Preparation

This post today is about preparing for prom or a ball or an evening due in which you have to wear a dress or something fancy. Now I'm doing this post as this Sunday my university is holding a black and white Summer Ball. I know around this time of year there's proms, leavers and other fancy things going on so I thought I'd share with you guys what I'm going to do to prepare for this Summer ball.

1. The outfit
You need to make sure you have your whole outfit sorted for the night. From the dress to the shoes to the jewellery. Try it on. Make sure it fits. You want to make sure you have an outfit you can wear or you'll be panicking on the actual day. Also make sure you have the perfect shoes, jewellery and bag to match with your outfit. Then you'll feel so happy and make sure your comfortable in what you wear like your shoes for example. Practice walking around in your shoes and if they hurt after an hour or two then change them because you don't want your feet to be in pain. Nobody is going to judge you if you end up going in flats.

2. Make up and hair
Now some people may like to wing it on the actual night with their hair and make up but I think you should practice the look you want to do first. If you know exactly what you're doing and in what order it'll be less stressful on the day plus you'll know if it looks good with your dress or not. You can also take pictures with a flash on or flash off so you know what you will look like in pictures. Practice your hair to or get it done professionally. Book your appointments in advance because closer to the date the salon may be busy. You can do it yourself to. There's loads of tutorials online for different hairstyles. Look them up and practice doing them.

3. Shave one or two days before the day.
Now I know we all girls have hairs on our legs and armpits and other places. Now I know it's tempting to just shave on the day but I don't think this is a good idea as you make get a skin rash or a cut and you don't want that on the day of your event. Just shave or wax or whatever it is you do one or two days before the event so that you'll be okay.

5. Pamper yourself on the night before
Give yourself a little pamper session with face masks, a bath and relaxing. Just relax. Read a book, watch a movie. Don't worry about the next day. Just make yourself feel good.

6. Eat healthily the day before
If you eat healthily with salads, soup and fruit. Then you'll feel so good the next day. Also drink lots of water that day because that is so healthy and it'll benefit your body so much.

7. Do some exercise before the day
On the topic of being healthy doing some exercise would be great before the day. You'll feel so good, possibly lose a bit of weight. Doing exercise does make you feel good. Just don't do too much because you don't want to be aching the next day.

8. Take good care of your skin a week before
Keep your skin healthy. Cleanse your skin. Don't wear too much make up that week. Just keep your skin feeling nice all week so when it comes to prom, your skin will feel great. Don't forget to moisturize your face daily so it feels nice and soft on the day of your event.

9. The perfect getting ready music playlist
I don't know about you but I love it when my favourite songs are playing while I'm getting ready. Create a playlist of all the songs you love and make sure there's loads in the playlist. That way you can just hit play on the day of your event and just start getting ready without having to worry about changing the tracks.

10. Get a good nights sleep before your event
You do not want to be tired or have bags under your eyes. Get a good eight hours. I'm quite lucky because my summer ball isn't until the evening so I can get up at noon and still have a good night sleep. Just get in as much hours as you can.

11. Just have fun
You might be thinking before this ball/prom/event stuff like "I'm going to have my first kiss." or "The boy of my dreams will fall in love with me." or "I have to look perfect so everyone looks at me." Basically you'll be having so many high expectations about this event. Don't have high expectations because you'll probably be disappointed. Just have fun. Don't think about boys/girls or whether or not other people look at you. Just have fun with your friends. They're the ones that'll tell you that you look amazing. Just have fun with them and don't expect anything to happen except having fun with your friends. If you don't expect anything to happen, chances are something special might happen  to you and if not then you'll still be having a great time with your friends.

Anyway, that's all I have to say for now. I hope these tips were helpful for you in preparing for your prom/ball/event. I'll be back on Saturday with a post about clutch bag essentials so stay tuned for that.

See you guys then.

Haul - Primark, Superdrug & HMV

So today I decided to go to town and treat myself to a few things. I bought quite a few things and thought why not share them with you guys now. Here we go.

The first place I went to is my favourite shop ever. Primark. I haven't been to Primark in ages so I did quite a bit of damage there.

The first thing I bought is this New York Varsity nightie. I've been getting into wearing nighties and shorts at night because it's getting quite hot at night so I thought I'd treat myself to a new nightie.

The next thing I bought from Primark is this pink workout top because I'm trying to get into exercise and I thought this top will be good for that. Plus it looks nice and it was cheap.

Just like with the workout top, I bought these work out shorts because they were cheap and also as it's summer I thought they'd be good to wear around my uni hall as well as for working out.

Next I bought some underwear because every girl needs to treat themselves to some underwear plus they look cute.

I bought these black, lacy dolly shoes because I thought they'd be nice to go out in. I have this summer ball next Sunday and I thought I may wear them then if I can't find a good pair of heels.

I bought this shower puff because I left the one I had at home and I like using these over flannels. That's why I bought it.

Sticking to the theme of exercise I bought this yoga mat as I've been wanting a mat for ages but I haven't found one and this was only six pounds from Primark. I thought it was a great deal.

The final thing I bought from Primark was this purple water bottle because I needed a new water bottle. Also on the inside it has this thing you take out and put water inside then freeze it then makes your drink cold. I thought it was a great idea.

The second place I went to was Superdrug and I bought this Nivea micellar water. It basically cleanses your face and can remove your make up. I thought I'd give it a try because I'm trying to keep my face free from spots before my university's Summer ball.

I also bought this lipstick which is from the brand Revolution. I wanted a nice dark pink lip for this ball I'm going to and I saw this one.

The final place I went to and the final thing I bought was this Billy Elliot Live dvd from HMV. Normally when I go to HMV I always go to the musical section because I'm a musical lover. I saw this and I've always wanted to see Billy Elliot the musical. So I decided to buy this because I thought why not.

Anyway, that's all I bought today. I'll be back on Thursday with some prom related posts as it's coming to that time of year where there's proms, balls and parties going. I thought I'd make a couple of posts related to them. See you then guys.

Where have I been?

You may or may not have noticed that I haven't posted for a week. That's because this week has been a busy one. I've actually been socialising with my friends. I've felt so loved and so happy this week. The funny thing was I never realised I was this much loved and cared about. It's crazy but also the best feeling in the world when you find out you're loved and cared about.

If you're wondering what I've been doing. Well, I've been going out on nights out a few times this week. As I mentioned in my previous post last week about going out unexpectedly on the Friday. I ended up going out again with the same friends on Saturday too.

I felt so happy because I actually felt included and honestly this week has been the best week of my life. I even went out with my friends on Tuesday and yesterday as well. It felt so nice because they were just such good nights because we all had a laugh and loads of photos were taken. It was just perfect.

Another reason why I haven't been posting this week is, I feel bad for saying this, I just forgot to blog. I didn't completely forget because I did check on my blog but I just didn't have anything to write for a while. I just thought though I'd make this post as I have time now and I may as well let you guys know where I've been.

Anyway, that's all I have to say for now. I'll be back on Tuesday with another post. I'll see you guys then.

Hangover Tips

Last night was very spontaneous. I went out into town unexpectedly with my friends. Let me tell you how it happened. I was about to make a cup of tea when I could hear my friends in the hallway so I went out and saw them all dressed up and slightly drunk. They saw me and said 'Megan, come out! Our taxi won't be here for another fifteen minutes.' In that moment I said to them 'Maybe, I'll go out.'

So I turned around and abandoned my cup of tea making. I realised I hadn't gone out in ages and I really wanted to. So I literally got ready in ten minutes. Took a mascara, a lip gloss and a compact hairbrush/mirror and left my room to go to my friends room. I had some time to put on my mascara, lip gloss and brush my hair. Then a few minutes later the taxi arrived. Before I knew it I was out drinking in the town.

Yeah, that's why it was so spontaneous. Anyway, this post is not what I did on a night out, it's abput the morning after that everybody hates. The hangover. The day where you feel like poop which is currently how I'm feeling right now. So I thought I'd give you some tips on how to get through it.

1. Have a wash
When you wake up you're probably going to be smelling of alcohol or your make up is going to be smudged all over your face because you didn't take off when you got home last night. Basically you feel gross so the best tip I can give you is have a wash. Force yourself to have a shower or bath so you can just wash your skin. You'll feel clean afterwards. Then wipe off your make up and wash your face so your face looks good.
It really makes a difference if you're hungover and clean. It'll make you feel a little bit better.

2. Drink water, more water and even more water
This is one of the biggest hangover cures. You need to hydrate yourself because your body will be dehydrated after drinking alcohol. So try to drink as much water as you can. Even squash is better than nothing or juice. Just keep hydrated and your hangover will be cured quicker.

3. Moisturise
Definitely moisturise your face because your skin will be dry after a night out and moisturising your face will be so good for your skin. If you want to know the moisturiser I use and love, it's the Nivea Refreshingly Soft Moisturising Cream. I love using it because it definitely moisturises my skin. I also use the Nivea Creme before I go to bed because it really does help to keep my face moisturised and even in the morning my face still feels soft.

4. Pamper yourself
Now if you really want to feel better. Try to pamper yourself a little by putting on a face mask and just relax. If you make yourself feel good then you will feel good.

5. Eat something healthy
I bet any of you that after a night out go for a takeaway. That's what happened to be. I ate chicken nuggets and chips. I'm always hungry when I've finished a night out. That's why it's best to have something healthy the next day. As much as you're still craving for something greasy, it's better for your body to have something healthy. It's why I had soup. Soup definitely is the thing that I personally love eating when I'm hungover. It's what I'm actually eating now. Tomato and basil soup and I'm dipping my wholemeal wrap into it. Your body will definitely thank you for it.

6. Change into something different PJs
It's okay when you're hungover to wear your PJs all day. After I've washed I like to put on some new PJs and just wear them all day. They are comfy and you're probably going to be laying around in bed all day anyway.

7. Take some pain relief
Of course with every hangover there is a headache that takes a while to go away. Usually I take some paracetamol or ibuprofen if it's really bad. Make sure you've eaten first before you take ibuprofen, I was told this by my mum who is a nurse. Also done take both of them because that's really not good so just stick to one or the other.

8. And relax
Once you've done all of the above you can just lay on your bed and relax. Read a book. Watch a movie. Binge watch a TV show. Watch YouTube videos and Netflix. Just forget all your priorities for today. You can do them tomorrow or this evening when your feeling much better.

Anyway, I hope these tips were helpful if you are suffering from a hangover. They've helped me out getting through my hangover and I'm starting to feel better.

I'll be back on Tuesday with another post. See you then guys.

University Experience

I'm now in my third term of university. It's crazy how fast the year has gone. I swear Freshers was yesterday. My life has changed so much since I've come to university. I'm more independent than ever before. I can do my own cooking, cleaning and laundry. All by myself. Shocking I know as before uni I never really did any of those things.

I'm also independent that I'm not relying on anyone. I can go shopping by myself and I can go to places by myself. I've been to loads of places by myself since I've been at uni. I've been to Liverpool, Chester and Manchester on my own and had loads of enjoyable day trips by myself. I've even been to the cinema twice by myself which I never thought I'd do.

I've actually realised that nothing is stopping me from going to do the things I want to do. If I want to see a movie in the cinema. I can. If I want to visit a place. I can. Nothing can stop me. That's what I've realised at university and I'm sure if many of you who are going to uni next year or are at uni now then you will realise this too.

Trust me. It's a brilliant experience. I feel like I've found myself. I can be happy by myself as well as with friends.

I'm going to make the most of this term and the summer and experience more things. I know it'll be great and I'll be sharing those things with you guys on this blog. If you want to know why I share on this blog, it's not just because I want to tell you guys about it but it's also because I can come back in a years time and read the post over again and just remember the day. Knowing I've been somewhere and done it. It feels great. That's what I love about blogging. You can blog about your experiences then read about them in a years time.
I hope you enjoyed this and I'll be back on the weekend with another post. Stay tuned as at some point I'll be posting the long awaited University Room Tour and the day in the life of a university student.

See you later guys.

11 Tips on getting through a university assignment or essay

As I've been in university for over six months now and I've done quite a few assignments and essays. I thought I'd give you guys some tips for getting through assignments and essays. I hope these tips can help some of you guys who go to university or college or even school. Let's get started.

1. Don't freak out! Stay calm
This might be a little obvious but you'd be surprise many people freak out, including myself, when they get an assignment. Especially when it's like a 2000 word essay or just an assignment where as soon as you read it you just think 'How on earth am I going to be able to do that?' The worse thing you can do is panic about it. Just stay calm and read over the assignment a few times. Your teachers will probably give you advice and things you can look at to guide you through it. You may find that it was easier than you thought it would be.

2. Find a nice spot to do your work
This can really help get you motivated. My biggest tip would be not to use your bed to do your work. I know it's comfy and you might feel relaxed for a while. Just trust me, it won't last. Because you're bed is mostly used for sleeping or just being lazy then your body will think your being lazy and it might make you feel unmotivated while you're doing your work. I know it's boring but I like working by a desk. I feel motivated to be working at a desk in a chair and I'm more likely to get things done.
Got to a coffee shop or a library because sometimes your bedroom can be full of distractions and you might be tempted to abandon your work to do something else.

3. Tidy Surroundings
I don't know what it is but I can't seem to work if my surroundings are messy. I remember when I was doing some coursework in school at my desk and all I could think about was how messy my room was and all I wanted to do was just to clean it. It's weird but it actually got me to tidy my room. So I suggest tidying your room or your work space and just making sure everything is organised. That way your mind can just focus on the work you have to do.

4. Books, books and even more books
Believe it or not you have to read books while you're at university to find quotes. I know you can look online for things but your essay or assignment will sound a lot more better if you've quoted from a book and of course explained the quote. Don't just throw in a random quote because it sounds good. Explain it. Why did you put it in there? Does it back up the points your trying to make?

5. Wikipedia is not the answer
We all know Wikipedia is a good website to find information but it is not accurate information as people can change the information which you will be none the wiser if you don't know very much on what you're looking at. Plus your lecturers will not like it if they see Wikipedia in your references. It will just show them that you haven't expanded in your research. You have just clicked the first thing that pops up in Google (which is usually Wikipedia). So yeah don't use Wikipedia unless it's for the sources on the bottom of the page which can be useful in what books or websites you need to look at.

6. Reference!
Now you may or may not know this but you need to reference. If you don't reference a quote or something from a book then that's bad because one the lecturers will know you've just copied someone else's research and two it will be a little suspicious if you don't have a reference list and they will find out if you've copied someone's work. Then you'll be in big trouble and that will end badly for you. So please reference a quote. I recommend APA referencing because that's what my lecturers told me to use. If you don't know how to reference then Google it. If you struggle to reference a website because you don't know the name of a website then just Google 'cite this website'. There will be websites which can find out the date the post was published and other stuff like that.

7. Ask for help
This is one of the things I have not learned yet but honestly it's probably one of the most important ones. Now you make think your lecturers might be scary and will yell at you if you don't know. Honestly though, they actually care about you and will help you. I was terrified once because one of my assignments was a group presentation and I didn't have a group. I didn't tell anyone. I didn't go looking for a group to work with. I actually thought I was going to fail. However, when I finally did have the guts to tell my lecturer I didn't have a group. He was fine with it and said I can work on my own. As soon as he said that I felt a massive weight and a whole lot of stressed that I worked myself up in come off my shoulders. Sometimes you just need to talk to someone to relieve all the stress. Your lecturers actually want you to do well in your assignments. Ask for help. You don't even have to talk to them face to face. You can email them saying your struggling. Even send a draft to them so they can look it over. They contact you for a meeting with them but that's only for them to help you improve. They can even suggested resources which you haven't yet looked at to help you improve. Please though if you are struggling with an assignment. Talk to your lecturer. I promise you they can help you and everything will be okay.

8. Research
You need to do a lot of research. Know what your essay is about before you actually do it. Study on the subject of your essay. If you know what you are writing about then writing the essay will seem much easier. Go online, read some books or talk to someone. Do the research. Make notes on what you find or mark the pages which you think will be useful when writing the essay.

9. Do not. I repeat. Do not leave it to the day before it's due.
I did this one and it's not fun. You will be stressed out and panicking. You do get the motivation to do it because you know it's due in tomorrow but you'll still be panicking and probably having a load of mental breakdowns. Plus you may feel like your missing out because your friends might be doing something fun and you're stuck doing an assignment. You'll also be really stuck if you have no idea what the essay or assignment is about if you do it the day before because how do you think your lecturers if they get an email off you saying you don't understand it. It won't look good. So please do it a month or weeks before it is due.

10. Plan it a little
Don't just ramble on and even start the essay without a plan because all your work may be mixed up a little. Plus it may be a little hard to follow. You might get it but the lecturers might not. So just make a plan of what each section will be about. It will also give you a rough idea on what you want to say in the assignment. I like to make to do lists. Plus if you have a plan you can do the research following that plan and it will make the assignment feel much easier if you have a clear idea of what you're doing.

11. Read it over
When you're finished with your assignment don't just submit. Read it over because you may find a mistake or two. Plus some of it might not make sense. Also as you read it over you may think of something else to put in it. So yeah just read it over a couple of times. Maybe even send it to your lecturer so they can read over your first draft. They may find improvements for you to make your assignment even better.

Anyway, I hope these tips were helpful to any of you doing an assignment or an essay. Good luck and I'll be back on Thursday with another post.

Can you keep a secret? Book Review

This post does not contain spoilers just my opinion so you don't have to worry.

Anyway, last night I finished Can you keep a secret by Sophie Kinsella. Let me just tell you I'm so glad I bought this book. I was looking at Finding Audrey (which I'm reading next) then I came across other books in which the author had written and I saw this one. When I read the summary I just wanted to know what happened next so I just bought the book from Amazon and now here I am. Finished the book after a few days and I loved every minute of it. It's a book that adult women would like. I just couldn't put it down. It was full of romance and had loads of funny bits which made me chuckle. As I read it I kind of felt the way the main character Emma was feeling as it was in first person.

This book was written so well and I would recommend it to any of you looking for a good book to read. I definitely want to read more of Sophie Kinsella's books. I know she's written a confessions of a shopholic series which I really want to read at some point. That series will definitely be bought after I've read Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella and Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell.

Anyway, that's all from me today. I'm going to make a post which was meant to go up last Thursday but I had a few problems with it so it will be up tomorrow. I also talk about university in it to so stay tuned for that.

I'll see you tomorrow guys.

Love you all.

Cutting the negative out of your life

I don't know about you but I want my life to be a positive one. However, like I said in a previous post about how sometimes it's hard to be positive. Well, that is true as it's hard to be positive when you have negative thoughts. However, sometimes it's not just negative thoughts and it can be surrounded by negative people.

Sadly, there are a lot of these people around. People that bring you down or make you feel unwanted. That's not good for you because with people like that then you're bound to feel more insecure and get more negative thoughts in your mind.

Everyone deserves to be happy and live positively but you can't do that if you're surrounded by negative people and thoughts. The obvious answer for this is change. You need to do something about this. Now, I'm not saying change for the people because that is not worth it and you're not being true to yourself then. You're basically letting them get to you and letting them win. No what I mean by change is by cutting the negative stuff out of your life.

Now I know what you're thinking. That is easier said than done. You might be afraid because this negative person might have been friends with you for years so it will be hard. However, ask yourself are they really your friend? If they're bringing you down and make you feel unwanted then they are not a good friend.

The tricky part of all this is the cutting itself. Like in the photo below it's like cutting a rope. It takes time but you'll get there in the end. Now, first off if you haven't told your parents/parent or someone how you've been feeling about this negative person then tell them. They'll understand. Believe it or not they might actually have an opinion on them. They may have noticed the way in which the person has been treating you and you might not have noticed yourself. So talk about it to them. Parents want your life to be a positive one too.

Once you've talked about it with someone then cutting them out of your life may be a little easier. My advice would be don't just confront them about it because the situation may be a lot worse for you and you really don't want that. Take it nice and slow. One step at a time. First, don't communicate with them as much. This means no texting them first. You may realise that it was always you that was putting in the effort of communicating with them. Don't completely blank them because they'll confront you. Just slowly drift apart from them because I know this might be hard for you because they were your best friend once. People change though and clearly they have changed if they're bringing you down. A real friend wouldn't bring you down or make you feel like you didn't belong.

Now if you've drifted apart and don't talk so much any more then you can forget about them now. You've done it. You've cut them out of your life. Now you can move on with your own life and focus on making yourself happy. You don't need a person to make yourself happy.
You can make yourself happy on your own but you can also make yourself happy around positive friends that don't bring you down and actually make you feel like you belong. Those types of friends you can have a great tine with.
I will make a post soon about how to make yourself happy as some of you may need advice on it.

I hope this advice was helpful to any of you that might have a negative friend or person in their life that you want to cut out of your life.

Just remember friends come and go but family is for life so don't hide anything from them. Tell them if you have a problem. Tell them that your friend is treating you badly and making you miserable. They will understand and they care about you. They don't want you to be miserable. They will also find out sooner or later and it'll be worse if it's not from you so just tell them.

That's it from me. I'll be back on Thursday with another post. See you then guys.

My Saturday + Eddie The Eagle

Hello everyone!

So today was an interesting day that I'd thought I'd talk about.

As you may have guessed from the title, I went to the cinema today to watch Eddie the Eagle with my mother. Let me just tell you that this film was amazing. I was truly inspired by it.

It's a story about following your dreams and not giving up no matter what anyone else thinks. It truly is a brilliant film starring Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman. Fun fact Taron Egerton actually went to my secondary school. Not while I was there but he actually went there. That's crazy.

It had some funny moments and just moments where you're on the edge of your seat but by the end of the film I was in tears. I was so glad I watched that film. The film just made me feel like following my dreams doing something that makes me happy. Best of all it's a true story. Not just something that's made up. So if you put your mind to it. Anything is possible.

After watching the film me and my mum went home and basically just chilled out for a while. Nothing much exciting. I'm just sitting here on my bed typing away on my laptop and writing this post. Not much else is planned for this evening. Just another boring Saturday. Next Saturday though I'll be in my uni room as I'm going back to uni on Thursday. So yeah that's about it for this post.

Definitely go and see this film when it's in your cinema. It truly is amazing and I'm sure it will inspire you to follow your dreams.

I'll be back on Tuesday with another post. See you then guys.
