Last Post Of 2016

I know I said yesterday that I wasn't going to post anymore in 2016 but I was just sitting on the sofa thinking a lot about this year and all the things I've done. I didn't actually realise it until I was sitting home alone that I have done a lot which have sort of helped me and given me more room to love myself.

Since being at university I have learned to be more independent and do things for myself. I've learned to cook meals, do laundry, keep my bedroom and do my own grocery shopping. Before going to university I never used to do most of these things and now I can do them with no questions asked.

I've also grown a lot with independence because I've done things which I never thought I'd do alone. I actually planned day trips for myself. Now I know you're thinking why did I do these things alone but honestly I didn't mind and I didn't know if any of my friends wanted to go with me so I just decided to go alone and save the hassle.

It all began with a day trip to the Trafford Centre. I had never been to the Trafford Centre before and I know some of my friends had been before so I thought why not go see it for myself and I did. I planned my day out and made a list of all the places I wanted to go to. I also noticed there was a cinema in the Trafford Centre and I really wanted to go see How To Be Single. I had never been to the cinema alone so I did a little research wondering if anyone does go to the cinema alone and apparently they do which made me feel a little bit better about going to the cinema alone. So I did, I went to the cinema alone and I actually didn't mind it. I enjoyed the movie too which was great.

This led to me going to the cinema a few times alone which made me realise that I could enjoy myself while still being alone. Sometimes even if you want to do something that maybe your friends might not want do or see in the cinema then you can just do it by myself and still have a good time.

I can't believe this is the last day of 2016. It has been such a crazy year like I said in a previous post which you can read here: http://megantime.blogspot.co.uk/2016/12/the-end-of-another-year.html

I hope 2017 will be a more positive year and I plan to be more positive in 2017. I'm planning to visit more places and try and get out of my shell more.

Anyway, that's all I have to say in this post. I wish you all a happy new year and I hope you enjoy your night whatever it is you are doing. I'm just going to be at my dad's home watching the countdown on the TV.

I'll see you in 2017.

Being Productive For The New Year

It's coming up to the new year now and for most of us, this a time for a change. That change tends to be a positive one but it doesn't matter if the change is big or small just as long as you're happy then it's fine.

Now one of the biggest things I struggle with sometimes is being productive as I tend to procrastinate a lot. It takes time for me to be productive and I have to be in the right mindset to be productive. I thought I'd share with you a few tips on how to be productive.

1. Write everything you have to get done now
Whether that is to write an assignment or prepare for something then write it down. Write a big to do list of everything you know you have to do then put it in the order it needs to be completed by with the first one being the one you have to do first as it is due in before the rest.

2. Start it now
I know it's still the holidays and work is the last thing on your mind but maybe just do a little bit. Maybe look at what it is you have to do whether that is an assignment. Just take a look at it then maybe do a little bit of research. It might take you ten or fifteen minutes but it gives you the time to know what exactly it is you have to do. There's probably some guides about what you have to do and I suggest you take a look at them. Just make some little notes so when you do actually start this assignment after the holidays then you have a rough idea of what you are doing.

3. Start waking up early
I know getting up in the morning can be a struggle. For some reason your bed is so comfy in the morning that you don't want to leave it but honestly waking up early is the best thing you can do. It gives you more time in the day to work and more time to relax after that work. You don't feel so pressured because you have so many hours to do the work.

4. Give yourself a reasonable bed time
Now the best way to get up early is to make sure you have had enough sleep as you won't feel so tired and groggy in the morning. I know some of you probably stay up late watching another episode on Netflix or watch YouTube videos or check your social media but you need to bargain with yourself. I'm normally on my laptop at night watching YouTube videos but I try to shut down my laptop at around half eleven at night and I make sure I'm all ready to go to sleep before midnight because then I know I'll have eight hours sleep because I normally wake up at eight in the morning. I also turn my notifications for my social media off so I'm not disturbed by the sound of notifications. This method does kind of work because the more you do it then your body will be used to it. I find getting up early does make me more tired in the evenings and most of the time I just want to go to bed so it does help you if you stick to this routine everyday.

5. Motivate yourself
Give yourself the right motivation. Think about what you want to achieve. For me that is to get a degree. I want my three years at university to be worthwhile and to get a degree at the end of it all. That is the point of university. You are there to get a degree but it's up to you whether you do get it because you're the one who has to do all the work. Nobody else is going to do it for you. You also want to try and give yourself the best mark you can. You don't want the mark that is from when you did the assignment from the night before because even though you might have just passed that one then you won't realise how well you can actually do if you put a little bit more effort into it. Giving yourself the right motivation will make you do it, just think about what you'll achieve if you do get it done. Plus the sooner you get it done, the more time you will have to relax and you won't be stressed out because you will have done it. Don't be the person who has left it to the last minute and is completely stressed out because they have no idea what they're doing, they can't ask for help and they don't know what to write or if their writing makes sense. Don't be that person.

6. Organise
Another way to be productive is to be organised. The way you can start to be organised to is to tidy your work space. Get rid of any useless papers or put the useful ones into a folder so you know where they are. Just make your desk tidy so that you don't have any clutter surrounding you while your work. You will work well if your surroundings are clutter free. Also organise yourself. Get a diary or planner and start using it. Make a note of all your deadlines so you know how much time you have to do them. You may also notice that you may have deadlines in the same week which means you should probably make a start on them now. Also every week, open your planner to that week ahead and make a note of when you want to work, exercise, go out somewhere or when your lectures are. Just make a note of everything you want to achieve that week and make sure you stick to it. Do make sure you put your work and lectures and before anything else but also do give yourself a break and relax a little during your week but not too much that you've just spent a week relaxing rather than being productive.

Anyway, that's all my tips on being productive for the new year. I hope they were helpful to you with whatever it is you do. Let's try to be productive in 2017 rather than procrastinating this year. Make this year worthwhile.

This will be my last post of 2016 but I am going to be setting myself a challenge for this blog in 2017. I created 125 blog posts in 2016 (including this one) and so in 2017 I thought I'd set myself the challenge of creating 200 blog posts in 2017. I thought it would be a fun idea and it means more blog posts from me to you. I do want to be productive with this blog this year as I do love blogging. So that is the challenge for 2017 is to create 200 blog posts on this blog. Hopefully I'll be able to do it.

Now I'll be back in January 2017 with my first post of the year. I wish you all a very happy new year and I'll see you next year.

The End Of Another Year

It's the end of another year and nearly the start of a new year.

2016 has been a very interesting year. So much happened that it felt like it flew by so fast.

Many great celebrities died this year. It was quite surprising how many died and so many recognisable names too. All of whom will be missed and I'm sure some of you were saddened by some of their deaths.

The next interesting thing that happened was the UK got to vote whether to stay or leave the European Union. Surprisingly the UK voted to leave which shocked many people including myself. Obviously the UK will soon see the changes of Brexit in 2017 so let's just hope it was the right decision and whatever happens, happens.

Another big thing that happened was the US Elections and it was a race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Donald Trump became president which also shocked lots of people including myself.

Let's just say 2016 was the year full of surprises.

A few things happened in my life in 2016.

I passed my first year of university and moved on to second year.

I moved from living in halls to living in a house with my three closest friends.

I also moved back home to a new house.

I learned to enjoy life and become more independent. I also realised I can enjoy having some alone time and planning trips for myself but still have a good time. I went to the cinema four times by myself which I've never done before but now I'm perfectly fine to watch a movie in the cinema by myself.

I've also improved on my blog. I've made 124 posts this year and I also reached 10,000 page views on my blog which I never thought would ever happen but it has. I'm so grateful for anyone who takes the time to look at my blog. It means a lot and I know somebody out there is reading a post I make. I just love to blog because I can write posts about what I did one day. I can share my experiences, give advice and tips.
It's nice because I can look back and read over the things I've done because I've blogged about them which makes me smile as I will be able to remember them. It's like my own personal diary which everyone can read but I don't mind if other people read it.

Anyway, that's all I have to say. I know it's not quite New Years Eve but I'm travelling to my dad's house today and staying there for a week. I may make some posts about what I do down there but I just thought I'd make this little post as it is coming up to the end of year and share it with you today.

I'll be back again soon with another post.

See you then guys.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I hope you have a wonderful day, however you celebrate it. Today is meant to be a happy day so be grateful to all the things you get and just be thankful you are where you are. I hope you have a good day and try to make beautiful memories.

I'll be celebrating with my family and I'm having turkey for dinner. I cannot wait to get on with this day and I hope it lasts because this day does tend to go by in the blink of an eye.

Anyway, I'll be back again soon with another post.

See you soon.

New Home

Long time no post.

I know it's been ages since I last made a post but I have a very good reason. Well, two weeks ago I was busy working on my assignments and I wanted to get them done so that was my main focus. Then I travelled home last week by train and arrived at my new house. My new house at home had no wifi so I was just living off the 3G on my phone and so I couldn't use my laptop or make any posts for a while. That is until now where this morning we finally had wifi installed into my new house which is literally the best. Now I can watch YouTube videos on my laptop instead of on my tiny little phone screen.

Now that's another thing, I have moved house back at home and it's really great. I can now get a bus to town if I want to and I'm not too far away from a shop. I'm also not in the middle of nowhere which is a plus. I love my new room too. It's just the right size for me and I recently got a bookshelf from my nan as one of my Christmas presents as I really wanted a bookshelf for my room as I have a lot of books and DVDs and they were just piled on top of each other in the corner of my room until I got my new bookshelf.

Anyway that's all I have to say for now. I will make another post soon and be more active with this blog now that I am connected to wifi.

See you then.

Not Much To Say

As you can tell from the title of this blog. I've got not much to say. However, I have a bit of time where I'm doing nothing and I just wanted to write a blog.

I have been a bit busy today. I got up at about ten o'clock and had breakfast which was Cookie Crisp and a coffee. I then had a shower, got dressed and tidied my room. I then spent an hour and a half playing my new game which I got yesterday which is Lego Harry Potter Years 1 to 4. I've been loving this game and I don't know why I never got it until now. After that at half one, I stopped playing and started to work on my assignment for one of my modules.

The assignment is about analysing a brand of your choice and I chose PG Tips because I like PG Tips and I thought it'll be fun to analysing. I have to say, I was right because I've been loving doing this brand and researching about it. It's a really interesting brand. I literally worked on it for an hour and then my timer went off (because I set a timer for an hour so I know I've done an hours worth of work). When it went off, I didn't want to stop and so I set the timer for an hour again and continued working. That's how much I've been loving doing this work. Although I did stop the timer when it reached forty five minutes because I needed a break.

Now though after nearly three hours of working on this assignment. I decided to come downstairs and microwave some sweet and sour chicken and rice for my dinner. I also have prawn crackers as well so I'm just waiting for that to be done. That's when I thought I'd blog about it because sometimes it's fun to know what somebody's done during the day so think of this as sort of a catch up post.

Anyway, that's all I wanted to say. I'm going to eat some sweet and sour chicken now and probably watch a bit of YouTube before continuing with this assignment.

I'll be back again soon with another post.

See you then guys.

Christmas Excitement

It's December which means it's officially okay to be excited about Christmas. I tried to get into the Christmas spirit in November. Me and my housemates even put the tree up and decorated the house slightly. However, I was not fully in the Christmas spirit. I suppose because the excitement doesn't officially hit me until I open the first door to my advent calendar. If you don't have an advent caleneder in your country, basically each day you open a door on the calender up until Christmas and you get chocolate. Although sometimes you can get advent calendars which have other things inside instead of chocolate but every year I go for the traditional advent calendar. I don't care how old I am, I will always be getting an advent calendar for December. It's traditional.

This year I've gone for Cadubury's Dairy Milk because I like that chocolate and it just reminds me of my childhood because I always used to get that calendar. It's something exciting about opening the calender on the 1st December because it means there is only 24 days until Christmas. I feel like this year, I'm going to savour every moment of Christmasy feels because it is such a wonderful time of the year and it makes me so warm and happy. The thought of Christmas and going home in two weeks just puts a smile to my face and the thought will get me through my assignments.

Anyway, as it is December it does mean we can all think about Christmas. For me though, the excitement is when I come up with a present to give to my mum. My mum deserves so much so I just want to get her something special every year. Yesterday, I was actually ordering things for her present which I am so excited for. It just made me smile at the thought of her opening the present and being happy. I got her something I know she'll love.

Another thing is that I'm thinking of posting twice maybe even three times a week in December on this blog. Some of these posts will be christmas related as well as university related because it is coming up to deadlines which is exciting (not really).

That's all I have to say for today. I'll be back again soon with another post.

See you then guys.

British Tea Survey

Can you please take a moment to complete my survey about British Tea Brands.

It will really help me out as I'm doing research for my university assignment about tea and your responses will really help me with my research about tea.

It will only take a few moments to complete it.

Thank you.

My Study Routine

As you may have noticed, I haven't really been posting lately and that's because life is getting slightly stressful at the moment as deadlines are coming up and I'm working on my assignments. I also just haven't found the motivation to post anything on here so I do apologize for that.

Anyway, today I just thought I'd share with you my studying routine for when I'm doing assignments just to give you guys an idea about what I do when I'm working on my assignments and hopefully it'll give you some tips on what you could do when you're studying or working on assignments.

So let's get on with my study routine.

The first thing I do is make sure my surroundings are tidy. Especially if I'm working in my room (which I am today). I just have to make sure everything is tidy and my desk isn't too cluttered or else I cannot work and my mind will be distracted on how messy my desk or even my bedroom is. I just have a quick tidy up and normally cleaning my room kind of motivates me to be productive. I don't know why, it just does.

I then make a cup of tea because to me it's a very relaxing drink and as well as grab a snack which today was just a packet of crisps then I'm ready to work.

I always make a list of everything I want to get done so for me that I know what I have to do.

Next, I set a timer for an hour and then I say goodbye to my phone and put it away in my drawer or behind me so that I can't see it. Normally I like to work for an hour then take a little break.

Sometimes, I don't like the quietness but I also don't like loud music. Normally when I do essays, I put on the Titanic soundtrack. It's a kind of relaxing soundtrack and has no words to it so it helps me concentrate when there's no words. It's just nice to have a bit of music. Even when I'm on a roll and typing away at this essay, the music just adds to my happiness that I'm slowly progressing on this essay.

I will also have a look through textbooks I have and mark down pages which could be revelant to my essay. Sometimes it's handy to have textbooks because your lecturers want you to reference from academic books so you may as well get some books out of the library. It just shows you've done research and it'll probably make your essay sound better if there's quotes from authors.

Now I begin to do my work for an hour.

When the timer goes off and my hour is done. I set a ten minute timer and take a break. It's important to take breaks because you need a bit of breathing time and a break away from working. During this time, I will check my phone to see if I have any messages. Make another tea and maybe get a snack. Once my ten minutes is up, I set another timer for an hour and continue to work again.

This is just my way of doing my assignments and it does help and get me through them. If you have a time in the day where you're doing anything. Just work on your assignment. The sooner you get them done, the better.

I hope this helped some of you and I'll be back again soon with another post.

See you then guys.

Unexpected Trafford Centre Trip

This morning, I was just chilling in my PJs and drinking my coffee when my friends and I decided to go to the Trafford Centre. It was unexpected and wasn't plan but I just thought why not so I got up off the sofa and started getting ready.

I haven't been to the Trafford Centre in a while and I also felt like treating myself to a few things so I set myself a budget then we were off, driving to the Trafford Centre.

While I was there I didn't take many photos as I wanted to just experience it all without having to worry about taking pictures.

The main place I wanted to go to was Waterstones because as you know I'm a massive bookworm. I wanted to go to Waterstones because Carrie Hope Fletcher has written a novella of her book On The Other Side which I absolutely loved. So when I found out that she had written a novella of this book which was exclusive to Waterstones then I knew I just had to have it. Now with this book it was buy one book get one half price. I was on a bit of time crunch as I didn't want to keep my friends waiting so I quickly looked around the young adult section where the buy one book get one half price stickers were on the books. I then saw this book called All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven which I had heard of before and wanted to read so I bought that as well.

Next we looked around other shops then we went for lunch and had a KFC. Afterwards we went to the arcades and played a few of the games then I decided to go to the grabbers. Half the time I know I'll never win but I just thought why not. There was this one where it had Winnie the Pooh characters holding hearts and I really wanted the Tigger one. So I began to play. I put about £2 and had failed grabbing it so I decided to go for one more pound. So I put the pound in and then the grabber managed to get hold of the Tigger and lift him up. I didn't get my hopes up, even when it was slowly moving towards the hole. I thought it would drop and I'd lose it before it reached the hole. However, to mine and everyone else's surprise. I won it! I was so happy. I felt like I acclomplished something amazing. I've never won at the grabbers so to win feels really good. It was quite a cute Tigger and the heart reads 'Bounce with me' which I thought was funny and cute.

Finally, to end this wonderful day. We went to see Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. I was so excited and couldn't wait to see it. I loved every minute of it because it was interesting to see a different side to the magical world JK Rowling has created. It was truly wonderful and I can't wait for the sequels.

Anyway, that's all from me. I'll be back again tomorrow with another post. See you then guys.

Smile

Smile because you are a beautiful person.

Everything in your life will be okay.

Don't let the haters bring you down.

You are worth it.

Everything you do is great.

It's going to be a great day.

You've done great getting through the week.

Even if it was a hard week, lets make next week better.

Talk to someone you haven't spoke to in a while.

You could make their day.

Even talk to your mum, dad, brother, sister. Anyone.

Put a smile on someone's face.

Tell them you love them and care about them.

You'll feel so happy afterwards.

Just remember though, if you're reading this then you truly are beautiful.

Being yourself is the most beautiful thing in the world.

There's only one of you and that makes you special.

So just take a moment to smile and think of all the happy things in your life.

De-Stressing and Relaxing Tips

Life can be very stressful at times no matter how old you are.

Sometimes you just need to de-stress and have a bit of me time which will help you to kind of cool down and let go of the stressful thoughts which are currently clogging up your brain.

I'm going to share with you some of my tips on how to de-stress.

1. Go for a walk outside
Sometimes being inside is the problem because you could be stuck in your bedroom or in the library or somewhere and everything is just getting to you. I suggest going for a walk outside. Grab your iPod or however it is you listen to music and just go for a walk outside. I find this to be relaxing because I'm getting fresh air and it's just kind of relaxing to move around. You're not focusing on the stresses your currently facing and you're just thinking about where you're going or even the weather. Even just going for a walk to the shop will de-stress you because you're focused on getting what you need. Then when you go back to working, you'll find you have a clearer head and you can carry on feeling more relaxed than you were before.

2. Tidy up
I don't know about you but I cannot work knowing if my room or work space is a mess. If I try working then my mind will just be thinking about the mess and it'll stress you out. Just take a moment to tidy your surroundings because then you'll feel at ease and I don't know about you but when I've tidied my bedroom, I feel so productive and want to do productive things e.g work.

3, Cosy environment
Sometimes putting yourself in a cosy environment is the perfect de-stress. For me it's going into my bedroom and turning on my fairy lights and just having dim lighting. I feel relaxed with a cup of tea and a good book or even a film. That's my relaxing strategy because I feel cosy and my mind is just focused on the book or the film and I'm not worrying about the next day.

4. Pamper Yourself
I don't know about you but when I have a little mini pamper session of face masks and cleansing my skin. It's very relaxing to me because I feel like my body is having a good clean. When I feel nice and clean then it's one less thing to worry about and it's a really good feeling when you're all pampered up. Just have a bit of me-time to destress the worries away. Even having a bath is a great destress. Unfortunately at uni I don't have a bath so I just have to make do with the shower.

5. Switch off
Sometimes putting away your laptop and phone and just switching off the from the internet world can be a big de-stresser because sometimes it can be really stressful focusing on social media. You could be feeling like why isn't my friend messaging me back? Everyone's hanging out somewhere and you're not invited? Why does this person not talk to me anymore? It can be really stressful so the best thing to do is forget about and turn things off. Just take some time offline. If anyone really wants to get in touch with you then they have your number so don't worry. Just do something offline whether it is reading a book or watch a film. Even try something different like drawing or even baking something. Just distract yourself from the online world and you'll feel more relaxed and happy.

6. Go on a little day trip
Where I live in the north of England, I have so many cities nearby which costs under £10 to get to by train. I have places like Manchester, Liverpool, Chester and Blackpool nearby. Sometimes planning a little day trip, whether that's with friends or by yourself, kind of helps if you just want to relax and have good time rather than focus on the problems of real life. Just taking a break to go somewhere is so relaxing. Being able to take pictures and blog about them also makes me really happy. When I go on a day trip, I have to bring my camera because I know I will want to blog about my experiences when I get back. I find that relaxing because then I know in the future I can come back to my blog and read over the post about day trip and just remember what a good time I had. For me that's a very relaxing thought.

7. Meditate
I don't often meditate. Sometimes I can't get in the right mindset or I forget about meditation. However, there is this app I found a while ago when I was looking for apps to de-stress and this app is called Headspace. It's about ten minute session which basically helps to relax you and clear your mind. It's just a voiceover which is kind of a nice soothing voice which talks to you and helps you step by step to clear your mind or rather focus on yourself rather than on the world around you. I've done it about three times and it has helped me a bit to clear my mind.

8. Write It Down

Finally, the biggest thing for me to de-stress my problems is to just write them down in a journal. I love to journal especially if I'm in a bad mood or something's bothering me. I write it down in my journal and in a way I kind of feel relaxed that I've let all my thoughts and feelings out onto the paper. Sometimes letting out what's on your mind is really helpful if you want to destress.

9. Sleep

Sleeping is probably the most important things to do in life. Your body and your mind does need it's rest. Having a 7 to 8 hour sleep is what everyone needs to feel relaxed and less stressed out in the morning. I know I feel so much better if I've had over 7 hours sleep. I do feel groggy in the mornings but I'd feel a whole lot worse if I've had about 4 hours sleep. I suggest setting yourself a little routine both in the morning and evening. In the morning I set different alarms on different days. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays I set my alarm at 7am because I have a 9am on those days. I will press snooze once then I force myself to get up and go have breakfast. I do get back into bed with my breakfast but the fact that I'm awake is great. It's also nice because I know I have a bit of time to relax and catch up on a tv show or watch a YouTube video before I have to get ready to go.
I also set an alarm on Thursdays and Fridays for 9am because I have afternoon lectures that day so I kind of give myself a bit of a lie in on those days. Because I wake up at similiar times every week, my body clock wakes up naturally around those times of days which is really good.
In the evening, I wash my hair every other night. I prefer doing it in the evening because it means I don't have to worry about it in the morning. I go to my bedroom at about 9pm and get into my pyjamas and get into bed. I just try to do things that won't stress me out like watching a film or reading a book. I then switch everything off by 10:45pm then I try to get some sleep. Normally that does work if I'm not tempted to check my phone but sometimes I will if I can't sleep.

Anyway, that's all my de-stressing and relaxing tips. I hope you enjoyed this post and they were helpful to some of you.

I'll be back again tomorrow with another post.

See you then guys.

I have thirty four books with me currently at university. I know that might seem quite a lot but most I've these books I've read and enjoyed plus if I'm in the mood for rereading a book then I can. Seven of these I have not read yet and one I'm currently reading. I know, I have a problem but I just love reading books and escaping to the happy land of books.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed finding out what books I have with me at university. I'll be back again tomorrow with another post.

See you then.
